The Concept

Here, you can edit any pictures, or put up your own pictures to edit. The goal is to have a place where people can draw together and give ideas. A beginner artist can add a picture and an expert can rearrange it, or an expert can come here when they run out of ideas. When you get stuck on a picture or just get bored of it, you can put it here and watch what other people do with it.

It's best to add your pictures in PNG format so people can get edit them without compression artifacts.

At the moment, there is no censorship. Any subject matter is allowed.

I'm not a good artist: i can't draw nice heads for now. So, i give you this to fix the shoulder and add a head. After i might try to color it, eh :P

The girl is the same as last time I painted. Nevertheless, it look like "they" are not very similar. I'm confused and can't figure out the problem.

WSX
Sorry. An mistake on typing.
I'm confused and can't figure out where the problem is.
Gas
I guess you padded the abdomen and upper legs too much in this one, compared to the other one.

Hey Zareste! What imageboard software are you using?
Zareste
Just my own code. The site doesn't seem to be taking off, so it may lie dormant until I infuse it into the Grid and put it to better use

WSX    [reply]
This is my first time drawing girls based on Zareste's tutorial of shading.
I can't get any idea to fix her. Is there anywhere unbalanced?
Zareste
Pardon the belated reply. I'm glad the tutorial is going to such good use.

I would actually make it less balanced, leaving things less even and stiff. I remember frustrating myself long ago to draw a symmetrical face and figure, only to realize it's best to avoid symmetry and front views altogether.

Personally, I'd also make her legs a bit longer, like I did here, but that's just me.

i'm not exactly good at this drawing thing. the ball is supposed to be the light source. i like how i did the very top of the hair, althouh that's probably wrong too.
Blopes
alright this thing is just plain glitchy!
Zareste
Okay it's working again. Small slip-up in the code

I've been working on this for a while now. I sketch and shade my drawings by pencil, and then rework, fix, and colour them with brushes in PSP8. There's just something about the proportions and shapes in this one that looks wrong... halp
Anonymous
I think this solves the problem.
JJ45
lol... I suppose that's one way to do it. But I specially need to know *what* is wrong with the blacked out parts, and *how* to make them look better and more lifelike... Not *which* parts are wrong.
Zareste
Heh, sorry, I invited 4chan over. Oh Anonymous, what will we do with you

Looks like the concept is two girls eating lots of bananas - which is a bit simplistic. It only looks wrong because there's not much you can do with that concept alone. A perfectly proportioned image can still look bad if it isn't thoughtful

Let's have some fun with this. I'd position the white girl like this sketch to the left and have the black one giving her a banana from the side, that way the image is more compact. That's just how I'd go about it.
JJ45
My bad, I should've probably mentioned it - the girls are supposedly pregnant.

In the "story" behind this, the white girl has gotten stranded on an island. She eventually encounters the natives of the island. Never having seen a white person before, the natives begin worshipping her as a goddess or a queen of some sort. The girl becomes *very* friendly with some of the tribesmen, and, combined with the effects of a fertility ritual performed on her, the result is as depicted in the picture.

I think you're right about the poses/positioning. I never gave much attention to that. Your idea is much better and more attractive as well, lovely sketch. I should probably experiment a bit more with sketches before I shade and CG'ize a drawing.
Zareste
Ahaha, okay it makes sense now. Sounds like a tropical background would fit the picture. Usually I get some photos off the internet and manipulate them to make a background like that. I'd imagine a few different tribeswomen in the picture, wearing some rings and grassy cloths like the folks in deep Africa.

Zareste    [reply]
Let's get it started. This picture is mostly finished, but still up for changes and variations. I'll use it as an example because I'm doing the two variations below by request. It's in PNG format so anyone can manipulate it without any compression artifacts, and I removed my site address from the corner.

Kind of an odd picture to start with, but good for an example.
Zareste
I started one with her wing out, but not very finished yet.
Zareste
Er, someone suggested giving her pubes, so I made another variation
Blopes
i think she looks better without the pubes, with the style of the pic looking very innocent and such. what would really take this picture up, is a light background. here, it looks like she is dressing up in some studio, but to make her a real angel/fairy/flying creature, you could put her in the clouds, or on a leaf, or something. i can't do it properly, but just a suggestion, or i'll try it later.
Zareste
Yeah I prefer her non-pubed as well. It's actually Nina from Breath of Fire IV http://www.dragon-tear.net/images/bof4/TMP3.jpg and she probably wouldn't like being portrayed as a fairy, but it would be neat to have a picture of her flying, now that you mention it.
